Picture + Panel is a monthly conversation series that brings fantastic graphic novel creators to the Greater Boston area. Discover terrific authors and fascinating stories that combine text and art through conversational confabulation. Produced in partnership by the Boston Comic Arts Foundation, Porter Square Books, and the Boston Figurative Arts Center, Picture + Panel provides thought-provoking discussions for adults about this unique form of expression.

Book sales are provided at the event by Porter Square Books.

About the Creators

Leah Hayes is an illustrator, musician, graphic novelist, songwriter and producer. She has published several books with Fantagraphics, including Funeral of the Heart, Holy Moly, Not Funny Ha-Ha, and her latest work, Identical. She also has several albums out with her band, Scary Mansion, writes songs, and produces beats for pop and hip-hop artists.

Maria Hoey makes comics with her brother, Peter Hoey. Trading back and forth from their studios in Northern California and New York, the brother and sister artists draw for publications of all kinds. They also write, draw, and design the Eisner-nominated comic series Coin-Op. Their graphic novels Animal Stories, The Bend of Luck, and In Perpetuity were all published by Top Shelf Productions.
